As a Alpha version, it was quite a challenge to make this driver work for my Raspberry Pi 3b. I don't think I would be able to get all of the projects on my Pi working, especially as they use a number of the other "exotic" features of the Pi 3b+. However, given there were quite a lot of problems with the http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=107068 thread, I was relieved to be able to get this "simple" driver working.
The first problem we came across was the inability to insert the network cable without the interface (wlan0) crashing, rendering the Pi unable to connect to the internet and the internet applets providing no network connectivity. This was something I complained about at length in my Blog post about the WPA/WPA2 WPA PSK & EAPOL Handshake You suggested a combination of renaming the driver using netcfg or wicd and a little googling (no net use the above link) and at long last it worked. The others suggest that renaming the driver from rtl8812au to rtl8192su might also help. It did for me. d2c66b5586
