Tiramisu: Original Recipe
I love coffee and chocolate and every combination of these 2 ingredients! Naturally, Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts that I love to whip up at home. It is made of ladyfingers (savoiardi) or speculos dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese, flavoured with cocoa. I usually prepare it in advance the night before especially if I am expecting guests. Your preparation needs to set for at least 4 hours in the fridge to enhance the flavors for the Tiramisu. Preparation time: 15 Minutes
Difficulty level: 1 Origin: Italy
Ingredients
250g Mascarpone cheese
24 Lady fingers
3 eggs
50g brown sugar
1 bag of vanilla flavored sugar or 1 vanilla pod
50cl of unsweetened coffee
50g of unsweetened cocoa
Preparation
Step 1
Separate the white and the egg yolks
Step 2
Mix egg yolks with sugar and vanilla flavored sugar
Step 3
Add mascarpone cheese using a whip
Step 4
Whip the egg whites for 5 minutes until they almost reach the ribbon stage. Incorporate the egg whites into the earlier mix by batches using a spatula. This ensure you obtain a fluffy texture for your Tiramisu filling.
Step 5
Dip you lady fingers one by one very lightly into the coffee and place into the Tupperware of your choice. Cover with a thin layer of the mascarpone cheese and repeat until your are done with your mixture.
Step 6
Place your Tiramisu in the fridge from 4 hours to 24 hours. When you are planning to eat it, dust lightly some cocoa on top of it and voilà ! Buon appetito ...
